Empowering juniors and seniors for a brighter futureBeyond the Classroom

Beyond the Classroom is dedicated to helping high school juniors and seniors in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District transition smoothly into the workforce. We focus on creating pathways to career development for students who may not pursue college. Through this program, students will have access to:

  • Career Workshops: Practical sessions on resume building, interview skills, and job search strategies.
  • Internship Opportunities: Hands-on experience in various industries to build skills and gain real-world insights.
  • Mentorship Programs: Guidance from industry professionals to help navigate career choices and development.

Supporting families from the first day to the first yearBuilding Bridges

Building Bridges is our First Day and First Year initiative aimed at providing families with essential resources to start the school year off right and ensure a successful first year in school and college. This program offers:
  • Back-to-School Resources: School supplies, uniforms, and other essentials to ensure students are ready for the academic year.
  • College Preparation Workshops: Sessions on financial aid, scholarship applications, and college readiness.
  • Family Support Services: Access to counseling, workshops on parental involvement, and other resources to support student success.

Combating learning loss with targeted tutoringLearning Loss

In partnership with PEARL, our Learning Loss initiative addresses the educational setbacks caused by disruptions in learning. We provide tutoring services to students in need, facilitated by interns from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Our program includes:
  • One-on-One Tutoring: Personalized attention to address specific academic challenges.
  • Small Group Sessions: Collaborative learning environments to reinforce classroom teachings.
  • Mentorship from HBCU Interns: Building relationships with role models who understand the unique challenges faced by our students.
