About This Program

The Growth Opportunities 4 program is a reentry workforce initiative serving justice-involved individuals in Mecklenburg County. Funded through a multi-year contract, GO4 provides participants with vocational training, job placement support, and post-release case management designed to reduce recidivism and build long-term economic stability. The program connects returning citizens to living-wage employment and wraparound services that address barriers to sustained reintegration.

The Moving to Self-Sufficiency through Jobs in North Carolina (MTAJ-NC) program is an Employment and Training initiative funded through USDA Food and Nutrition Services. Urban League of Central Carolinas delivers assessment, job readiness training, skills development, and employment placement services to SNAP recipients, helping participants achieve and maintain economic independence. The program operates on an annual budget of $683,014 and serves participants across the Charlotte metro region.

The Empowering Fathers Program is an initiative designed to strengthen the economic stability and family engagement of non-custodial fathers in the Charlotte region. Funded at $686,964 per program year, EFP combines workforce development, fatherhood engagement, and case management to help participants secure and maintain employment, increase child support compliance, and build meaningful relationships with their children. The program addresses both economic and social barriers through a holistic service model.

The program delivers job training, placement, and retention services with a focus on quality outcomes — including wage attainment, employer satisfaction, and participant retention rates. MECKworks is performance-driven, with a weighted scorecard across output, outcome, timeliness, innovation, and customer satisfaction metrics, and serves residents seeking pathways to sustainable employment.
