Empowering Generations Through Technology & Mentorship

JCSU Digital Literacy

The Urban League of Central Carolinas, in partnership with Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), proudly leads a transformative Digital Literacy Program designed to bridge the digital divide through intergenerational learning and mentorship.

What We Do

This program connects JCSU students with community members enrolled in workforce development classes. Together, they engage in hands-on learning experiences that strengthen digital skills, promote mentorship, and build community connections across generations.

Intergenerational Learning in Action

Our approach pairs JCSU students—many studying computer science, education, or social work—with adult learners in need of digital training. These students provide personalized instruction, mentorship, and support while gaining real-world leadership and communication experience. The result is a symbiotic learning environment where both mentors and mentees thrive.

Student Impact

jJCSU students serve as lead instructors, mentors, and program ambassadors. They: Teach digital skills to community participants Develop accessible and relevant curriculum Support learners with encouragement and practical assistance Gain leadership, communication, and community engagement experienc
